An Invitation to the
Education Forum for Asia
2005 Annual Conference
Beijing, China
October 13-16, 2005
August 28, 2005
Dear colleague,
It is our great pleasure to cordially invite you to the 2nd Annual
Conference of the Education Forum for Asia. This event, co-organized
by Boao Forum for Asia (BFA), the United Nations Educational, Scientific
and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the China Scholarship Council,
will be held in Beijing, China, October 13-16, 2005.
Education Forum for Asia has been established as a platform to
address issues facing the development of education in Asia and to
highlight and support innovative approaches to educational development
goals, education policymaking and international cooperation in education.
Since the Initiator¡¯s Meeting in December of 2003, Education Forum
for Asia has had a number of great successes with supporters including
current and former state leaders, Education ministers throughout
Asia and a number of education experts and practitioners from across
the globe. With the successful conclusion of the Education Forum
for Asia Annual Conference 2004 the forum has laid a solid foundation
for our 2005 Annual Conference. The events during the annual Conference
in 2004 brought eyes from across the globe to focus on Beijing for
these few days as leaders from Asia and the world, experts in education,
university administrators, technology partners, business and international
institutions came together. This year¡¯s conference is sure to do
the same, and to continue the dialogue from last year and new issues
affecting our region today. The topics are resource sharing in distance
education, cross-cultural management, private education, studying
overseas and returning entrepreneurs and Asia art education, among
others. In conjunction with this event there will be some additional
exhibitions.
Please find the attached tentative agenda of the conference, registration
form and some background information for your consideration. We
would be much obliged if you could kindly confirm your participation
by July 25, 2005 so that we can issue a formal invitation for your
visa application and conference registration.
We look forward to your participation at the Education Forum for
Asia 2005 Conference, and would like to express our gratitude for
your continued support as we work on Building Bridges for Asian Education. For more information

The internationalization of China¡¯s economy is not only an opportunity
for further development for various countries of Asia, but also
a challenge. For the MNC, there is also a challenge of cross-cultural
knowledge management in their international business when they meet
a globalization trend. Meeting this challenge will require as common
goals the understanding of cultural differences, the resolution
of cultural conflicts and the pursuit of development in a harmonious
environment.
¡®Education Forum for Asia ¡ª¡ª Conference on Cross-cultural Management
and Training in a Global Economy¡¯ (hereinafter referred to as ¡®the

and research institutions have been invited to participate in this
forum as assistant organizers.
The Forum has invited renowned domestic experts, scholars, and
government officials from China and abroad to discuss the training
modes of cross-cultural management. The forum aims to discuss how
to improve enterprise management performance and how to expand the
range of international cooperation. A prime topic for discussion
will be the development of international management skills in the
context of different national and cultural backgrounds. The Forum
will propose a series of relevant measures to improve Chinese international
competitiveness. Finally, the forum will analyze the ability of
enterprises in China to encompass cross-cultural issues in management
styles.
This Beijing international forum can be viewed by the international
community as an important and necessary meeting of Chinese academia
and of officials from both the private and public sectors. You may
expect that by attending, you will gain insights on how to promote
